Hens Party Girls

The other day a friend and I were talking about a recent hens party and the ettique of presents.  Weddings are expensive and there are often many occassions that offer themselves up to buy buy buy.. for instance there is the engagement party, the hens party, the kitchen tea and then of course the wedding.  Are you supposed to buy gifts for all of them?  What do you think?
